Anxiety Disorder Treatment near Springfield IL

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), anxiety disorders are the world’s most common mental disorders, affecting 301 million people in 2019. Living with an anxiety disorder can seriously disrupt your quality of life, especially if gone untreated. Lincoln Prairie offers programs and services to the Springfield community that can help you manage your anxiety, and take back your life from constant fear.

What is an Anxiety Disorder?

Anxiety disorders are classified by persistent feelings of worry and an inability to control or stop worrying. Anxiety disorders can be focussed around specific triggers, such as hypochondria which is health anxiety, or more general. While everyone may feel anxious at certain times, an anxiety disorder cannot be rationalized away, will not get better with time and can seriously impact someone’s quality of life.

Types of Anxiety Disorders

According to the DMS-5, there are seven types of anxiety disorders. These include:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Specific Phobia Disorder:
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Agoraphobia
  • Separation Anxiety Disorder
  • Selective Mutism

Each of these types of anxiety can occur on its own or concurrently with other anxiety disorders or mental health issues. It’s important to note that each of these conditions, while they have variations in presentation, share a persistent, heightened feeling of anxiety that cannot be rationalized away.

Outpatient Treatment

Lincoln Prairie’s outpatient treatment for anxiety is great for teens who don’t need around the clock supervision, but will still benefit from a structured program. During outpatient treatment, your child will attend several therapeutic groups across a handful of hours, returning home at the end of the session. Our outpatient programs include medication management, dialectical behavioral therapy, and anger management group.

LGBTQ Inpatient Program

Our LGBTQ+ inpatient program provides support groups for those who are LGBTQ+, psychiatrists who understand LGBTQ+ needs and a comfortable environment with an overall goal of stronger mental health in the long-term. We believe that it’s necessary to work within the unique context of being an LGBTQ+ youth in today’s society to accurately treat adolescents in the queer community struggling with their mental health.
