Teen IOP at Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center: Why Choose Us?

At Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center, our intensive outpatient program (IOP) helps teens focus on their mental health while staying connected to home, school and friends.

This intensive outpatient program for teens helps adolescents who need more support than weekly outpatient therapy offers. We provide a caring, structured setting where children ages 12 to 17 can focus on their emotional health. Whether your child is continuing care after an inpatient stay or working to prevent one, we’re here to help.

Highlights of our IOP for teens include:

  • Designed for teens: Our adolescent-focused mental health services support the unique developmental and social needs of teens. Services explore concerns such as identity, peer relationships and family dynamics. This approach helps your child feel understood and motivates them to actively participate in treatment.
  • Caring staff: Therapists are present, patient and focused on your child’s well-being. They use trauma-informed care principles to maintain a calm, respectful environment. Their commitment helps your child feel valued, especially when they need it most.
  • Help after an inpatient stay: Our teen IOP is a natural next step after an inpatient mental health stay. The structured care helps ease the transition to everyday life. Your child learns how to strengthen and use coping and communication skills to manage their mental health.
  • Consistent support: Our IOP for teens meets four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. Meeting several times a week gives teens more time to work through challenges and feel more in control of their mental health.

No-Cost Evaluation

The first step is to schedule a no-cost, confidential assessment. This helps us evaluate eligibility for the teen IOP. If the program is appropriate for your child, we work quickly to coordinate the admission so they can participate as soon as possible. To get started, call 217-585-1180 or send us a message.

IOP for Teens at Lincoln Prairie: What to Expect

Our teen IOP offers therapy, skill-building and regular check-ins with providers specializing in adolescent care.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Group-based care: Most sessions take place in small, supportive groups where teens can talk about challenges, learn new skills and hear from others who understand what they’re going through.
  • Therapeutic activities: Teens engage in activities that encourage movement, creativity and emotional expression. Care may include time with miniature horses who visit our facility.
  • Clinical check-ins: Your child meets regularly with a child psychiatrist and nursing staff who monitor progress, discuss symptoms and adjust care as needed.
  • Medication management: If needed, your child can rely on us for mental health medication prescription monitoring, refills and adjustments.
  • Family involvement: You receive regular updates and can stay connected to your child’s care.
  • Additional services: Your child may participate in individual or family sessions if needed.
  • Discharge planning: As your child completes the program, we create a plan for next steps to support their ongoing needs.
